Salvaging stuff - one item at a time
We salvage, you buy – together we save the planet!
At Reuseful, our primary goal is to make neglected, discarded or unused items useful again.  Efforts may simply include reclaiming reusable building materials or objects from abandoned buildings or trash piles.  Most items, however, need to be restored (sanded, scraped, cleaned, refinished) and repaired.   Other objects need to be repurposed –altered for a completely different use.  We try to make just enough improvements (like removing mold, flaking paint, and smoothing jagged edges) to make items safe without erasing their character. It is our belief that each layer, scratch, and dent tells a story. Reuseful specializes in antiques, vintage items, and building materials; but we will try to find a use for any object.

Reuseful’s products are meant for people who …. understand the value of reuse, appreciate the craftsmanship of the past,  desire stuff with character. Our stuff isn’t perfect, new, or cheap; it is flawed, salvaged, and unique. You can feel good about buying one of our products because it not only keeps it out of a landfill, it reduces waste that would have been generated by new manufacturing processes.

Our Story
Reuseful Founder, Heather Wendel, has a long history of caring for the environment by keeping waste to a minimum, recycling, finding new uses for things, etc.  She has also worked as an environmental consultant over the past twenty-five years, and that work experience is what drew her to this adventure in salvage. As part of her job, she would conduct inspections of abandoned buildings that were scheduled for demolition and it was brought to her attention that the building materials (and sometimes even the contents) would end up in a landfill.  She felt it was wrong for useful materials and historically significant items to be discarded because it wasn’t cost effective to save them.  So, she started salvaging what she could, and that is how Reuseful. came to be.
